Finished!

I finally finished mom's quilt. That Double Wedding Ring pattern is a doozy to make up. The quilting is really involved as well. I did the binding and it was not so bad as I thought it was going to be. I have been working on this one since 2005 and finished it about 1Am Monday morning. Threw it in the washer and got all the markings off and dried it fluffy. I am thrilled to be done but now I am thinking about making one for me with black fabric instead of white for the background color.
First I have to get that orange thing done for dad though.

poor old shy dog

We lost our Shy dog on the 26th of this past month. I really miss her snoring. She had gotten so old and I guess it was probably kinder for her to go now than later, but I am just selfish enough to wish I had gotten more time with her.

quilts and sewing

I had a very productive week last week with the sewing machine and such. On Tuesday, my quilt buddy came over and we talked and laughed and sewed just a bit together and got a lot done.

On Wednesday I got the black and white quilt top finished to 95"x108".
(I was limited by the backing) Peter came by and helped me get it sandwiched on Friday, (what a job!that puppy is heavy) and then we drank a couple of coronas and sewed together for a while as we listened to "The Two Towers" on tape. He finished his quilt top and we put it on the site again. He decided it would be better to sell it for cash as opposed to trading it. I am happy that he changed his mind. I finished tooling a little knife case for the old guy that lives here and spoils the dogs and cut out two scrub tops as mine are a bit tattered now. I need new tops and have to have pockets on my tops. So all in all, it has been a very productive week for me.

has it been that long?

I have to say I haven't been workin on this blog thing like I should. I suppose it has a lot to do with my inability to write well. I guess I should just dive in anyway. Anyone who knows me just will have to take my ungrammatical ramblings and weed out the crud.

I planted the garden with P on Monday. So far I have onions, potatoes and strawberries. Then we were lucky enough to get a really good soaking rainstorm so the plants should do well. (the weeds will thrive) I really hate to weed but really plan to stay on top of it this year and not procrastinate so much. I have to say procrastination is not a good trait.

The dogs are all doing well and pup is now as big as her mom at seven months. Her manners improve daily and she is a lover. The only thing we can't seem to get her to understand is she is not supposed to cross the boundaries of the radio fence. Her collar does shock her but she just doesn't seem to mind it much. Sets on top of the wire, with the collar zapping her and takes no notice whatsoever. Will occasionally scratch at the zap. PUPS!

Shy dog is developing cataracts, and I guess this means I can't move the furniture around anymore. Poor old girl!

I have a couple of quilts going on the machines and it is nice working in that sewing room now that we have an oil heater in there. It gets nice and toasty in there. I love that. Well, that is all I can think of to say this morning. I will try to be more regular in my posts.
